Welcome To Our Journal!

Hello all–

It’s a privilege to get to make products for a living and an honor to design for you, your homes and your lives. As you may have heard me say before, it’s tough being a producer of products that believes there’s already enough ‘stuff’ in the world. The thought that keeps me going is that not enough of this ‘stuff’ is making a positive impact–but it can! Sure there are a ton of polyester totes that will shed fibers into our oceans when they’re washed, and plenty of conventional cotton clothing and aprons made from fiber grown in unhealthy conditions affecting farm workers and nearby communities. In case you’re like me and want to have nothing to do with that, you’re craving alternatives that will impact people and the environment in healthy, sustainable ways.

Here in our Journal, you’ll find interviews with folks who inspire us–people such as Sana Javeri Kadri of Diaspora Co. and Nite Yun of Nyum Bai for starters. This will also be a place where I will share some of my own more challenging thoughts around building a business that is opposed to the standard business structures and the systems that normalized those practices. On the lighter side, this will also be the place where we share things we think you’ll love, such as podcasts, change-makers to follow, organizations to donate to, and whatever else is inspiring in the world of environmentalism, human-rights, food, design, and community leaders.

Thank you for being part of this journey. If there is something in particular you are excited to learn, have us share with you, or someone you’d like us to interview, let us know in the comments below.

Warmly,
Geana Sieburger
